Text mining

Text mining is the process of exploring and analyzing large amounts of unstructured text data aided by software that can identify concepts, patterns, topics, keywords, and other attributes in the data. Text mining has become more practical for data scientists and other users because of the development of large data platforms and in-depth learning algorithms that can analyze massively unstructured data sets. This is also known as text analysis, although some people draw differences between the two terms; in that view, text analytics is an application that is activated by the use of text mining techniques to sort data sets.

Text analyzing helps organizations find potentially valuable business insights in company documents, customer e-mail, call center logs, verbatim survey comments, social network posts, medical records and other text-based data sources. Increasingly, text mining capabilities are also incorporated into AI chatbots and virtual agents that companies use to provide automated responses to customers as part of their marketing, sales, and customer service operations.
